On February 17, 2009, the California Jazz Foundation presented a unique event, honoring LeRoy Neiman for his body of work and unveiling his iconic painting "LeRoy Neiman's Big Band." Photo opportunities abounded and wonderful jazz was provided by Advisory Board members Mike Melvoin and Kenny Burrell, joined by Clayton Cameron and Roberto Miranda.

"Very wonderful . . . my wife, Linda, and I are happy to support it. We'll do anything for the California Jazz Foundation."
- James Moody
"It was a thrill --- the food and entertainment. Tommy Hawkins is such a great guy. Everything about this evening was class."
- Jack Sheldon
"I think it's a great cause to help musicians who are down on their luck."
- Charlie Haden
"Tonight is a magical memory . . . jazz takes care of its own."
- Barbara Morrison
"Edy Bronston and the board are doing a great job of helping musicians. It should have happened years ago, like in the motion picture industry. But in this business --- we just don't have the money."
- Terry Gibbs
"It's unbelievable, I was fortunate enough to be added to the list. This is history --- something I'll always remember."
- Howard Bingham
"It is a great tribute. I like to refer to LeRoy Neiman as a social documentarian. I'm particularly honored to call him my friend."
- Tim Yarger
"The foundation scored a big hit with this show. I look forward to more in the future. This is sensational!"
- Howard Rumsey
"This is such an interesting gathering . . . to see all these faces. Mike Melvoin was the first musician I met when I came to L.A. I'm happy to have been invited."
- Bill Withers
"I was pleased that Tommy called me because it's such a great cause. I've always enjoyed music. It's the kind of evening we should all support."
- Rafer Johnson
"It was a home run! We are thankful to be here to honor LeRoy Neiman and now we look forward to seeing his art. This will give the foundation greater visibility."
- Peter O'Malley
"Technology has taken us away from seeing each other but this event allows me to see all my friends."
- Hubert Laws
"I love to support the foundation. The cause is absolutely wonderful. I'm glad my friend, Edy, came up with the idea."
- Catalina Popescu
